Marketers promote sustainability as a way to make their products more attractive to discerning consumers. The Verified Beef Production Plus (VBP+) program is the tool that connects beef production to the broader conversation surrounding sustainability today.
Our Practices
All Northwest Beef participating farms have undergone Verified Beef Production Plus' four tiers of inspection to ensure their commitment to the highest standards of care in food safety, humane animal handling, environmental stewardship and conservation, and biosecurity when raising their cattle.
Canada’s beef cattle producers take pride in the care they provide their animals and the environment they rely on to raise healthy productive cattle. The VBP+ program is a way for registered producers to demonstrate and verify that they abide by the highest standards for food safety, animal care, land management and conservation, and biosecurity when raising their cattle.
VBP+ registered producers adhere to strict program requirements and are audited under a third party audit process.
Our animals are fed a customized program feed, which consists of locally grown ingredients where possible. This ensures a consistently high quality product is delivered each time you purchase, which will only improve over time. Our farmers are committed to raising their animals with care, protecting their land for future generations, and achieving the best possible product that Northwestern Ontario can offer again and again for your enjoyment.
Our Farms
At Northwest Beef, we're not too far away. From Wawa to Kenora in Northwestern Ontario, our brand is a collective of about 15 family farms. When you're buying Northwest Beef, you're directly supporting small-scale farmers in your own backyard.
